We desire for our worship gatherings to be marked by Biblical truth in songs,

sermons, and other stage leadership. We are eager for theologically-rich, Biblically-saturated, and gospel-centered song lyrics, public prayers, and calls to worship; yet, at the same time, we desire for them to be fully felt, poised and planned for moments of rising affections and surrendered wills. Jesus calls us to worship God in Spirit and in truth (John 4:23). Paul identifies the church as those who worship by the Spirit, glory in Jesus, and put no confidence in the flesh (Philippians 3:3). And worship in the Bible includes loud shouts (Psalm 33:3), new songs (Psalm 150:4), various instruments (Psalm 150:3-5), lifted hands (Psalm 134:2; Psalm 119:48; Psalm 63:4), glad singing (Psalm 100:2), joyful noise (Psalm 95:1), kneeled knees (Psalm 95:6), lamenting woes (Psalm 13:1-2), and more.

Musical worship is a full-personed activity. In Scripture we are told to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength (Deut. 6: 4-6; Mark 12:30); in musical worship we get to engage with each of those aspects of our being! Our goal as worship leaders is to bring our full selves into worship at each service opportunity, rehearsal, and daily life.

Worship Team

At Citylight we consider the Tech Team (Audio & Video) as essential and equal members of the worship team. Our philosophy of worship for the tech team is to allow the Holy Spirit to work through our whole selves (body, mind, soul, heart) in worship to help facilitate with excellence an atmosphere in which distractions from what God is doing are minimized, and resources and technologies are maximized to captivate and draw in focus to what God is doing.
